Stoody has reduced distributor pricing on its Vancar line of rod, electrode and wire. This price reduction makes the product competitive with similar products and positions the alloy as a cost effective alternative versus the dropped MIG tungsten carbide process.
In recent years, Vancar has had a revival due to the increased costs of tungsten carbide and the innate performance features of the product. Features include:
- Fine carbides equally dispersed in the weld for uniform wear
- Superior wear resistance to high carbon, chrome carbides
- Similar wear to tungsten carbide
- Up to 50% more coverage pound to pound versus tungsten carbide
- No need to remove worn hardfacing, one can weld over the old deposit
- Can be welded in multiple positions versus in the flat for MIG Carbide
- Components can be repaired in place, no costly down time of removing the component
- Vancar can take more impact thus the recent success stories of replacing MIG carbide on earth moving tractor blades
- Vancar can be used in just about any industry including agricultural tillage tools, wood pulverizing hammers, recycling to name a few
In addition to the previous mentioned benefits, the product is very welder friendly. The product does not have the same tight parameter concerns as those when welding tungsten carbide. Plus the product is made in the USA at our plant in Bowling Green, KY.
